Following the announcement by the Rugby Football League, we can confirm that the University of Gloucestershire All Golds and Oxford Rugby have joined forces to create an exciting new Rugby League club. Based in the city of Bristol the new club will replace the current clubs and aims to be part of the League One competition for the 2019 season. Neither club will compete in the 2018 League One season and will focus on preparing for competition in 2019.

We would like to thank all the supporters, student, staff, sponsors, volunteers and, players who have been involved with the club since its inception in 2013. In light of the recent changes to the structure of the game, in terms of the expansion of our division, it became clear that we needed to sustain a competitive professional club in the region and that by pooling the experience, contacts and resources together we could address and protect the development of rugby league in the area for the long term. We are also proud to have created a successful pathway for players to make it into the professional game, which has provided some great opportunities for students to experience working in a professional sport set up.

All Golds General Manager, Patrick Evans said:

“We are proud of everything we have achieved as the All Golds with many successes on and off the field during our five seasons in the third-tier competition. We have created an educational pathway for players who have earned scholarships and gone on to achieve a degree with us whilst playing professional rugby. This is an area we will continue to expand on with the move to Bristol, with the chance to compete with established teams at the top end of the division.”
